Born in Scotland, raised in Hamilton, “grew up” in Toronto and became a family man in Oakville.
Stuart has a long history with Collingwood coming here frequently since a young adult, as a partner with Kelsey’s Restaurants when they opened the Collingwood location, and much of his wife’s family are long time residents. Stuart and his wife have had a residence in Collingwood for the past four years.
With an education in Community Planning and Urban Studies, Stuart’s first career was as a planner in Toronto and Mississauga. Leaving planning he ventured into business as a restaurant owner / operator / senior executive / consultant. During that time Stuart was instrumental in designing, building, operating and franchising two very successful restaurant companies throughout southwestern Ontario as well as other parts of Canada.
With a background in community planning as well as a strong business acumen Stuart has a solid appreciation of the challenges for both the community and businesses. With these experiences he brings a unique perspective and appreciation of the challenges.
Stuart has travelled extensively throughout his life and has seen and experienced much of what the world has to offer and feels his life and perspective have been greatly enriched as a result.
Stuart and his wife are very proud parents of two adult children. Both of which are enjoying life and very successful careers, one in Calgary and one in California.
